Be Patriotic

It’s good to show some support for our country and those who work to make is so great. As far as Mustangs, Flat Black American Flag Quarter Window Decals are a good way to do so. These go on you rear quarter window and fit all 2015 to 2020 Mustang coups. They are a subtle way to show your support for the United States of America. I will add more on how to install these as soon I get them for my Mustang and have installed them.

Lambo Style Window Louvers Installation on 2015-2021 Mustang

The Lambo Style Window Louvers are an awesome look for any s550 Mustang. I had Some MMD ABS Rear Window Louvers on my Guard Metallic 2015 Mustang V6 and they were great. Those were expensive though. The Lambo Style Louvers are a much less expensive option. While I am installing Lambo louvers here, the installation process is the same as it is for many other louvers.

I bought a few extra things other then just the louvers to bring the $150 Lambo Louvers up to the same level as the MMD Rear Window Louvers. While You can get and install the Lambo Style Window Louvers with out the extra things and steps I used, I would highly recommend doing them. Many people complain about their louvers falling off or getting messed up in car washes. these extra steps should prevent that. The more careful you are installing your louvers, the smaller the chance is you’ll have problems with them later.

Lambo Style Window Louvers Install Video

Below is a list of everything you’ll need to get. All of this should cost under $200. The things in bold are links to the product:

  • Lambo Style Rear Window Louvers: these come with
    • The Lambo louvers, made from abs plastic (same as the MMD louvers)
    • a roll of 3M adhesion that you will not need
    • 12 mounting brackets
    • 12 3M adhesives which are precut to fit the mounts
    • 24 rubber spacers
    • 12 nuts and washers
  • 3M Adhesion Promoter: makes the adhesives stay on better.
  • 3M Silicone Sealant: keeps water away from the adhesives
  • Alcohol Prep Wipes: only need a few but they only sell them in boxes. these are the same ones I used.

The installation process is as follows:

Lambo Style Window Louvers step 1
Step 1 is to wipe off the back windshield. Use some sort of soap and water and a microfiber towel to clean it as good as you can.
step 2
Step 2 is to wipe down the black edges of the windshield with a alcohol prep wipe. Use one for one side and one for the other side. This is where the adhesives will be sticking to.
step 3
Step 3 is to attach the adhesives to the bottoms of the mounting brackets. Start by taking them off the backing and rubbing them with some adhesion promoter. I used 2 adhesion promoters for this part. Then place them on the bottom of the mounting brackets.
Lambo Style Window Louvers step 4
Step 4 is to attach them to the louvers. Carefully place the louvers upside down and put the mounting brackets on the bottom of the louvers like this. This is when you need the rubber spacers. Before putting on the Mounts, put two of the rubber spacers on the stud. Then put the stud on the mounting brackets through the pre-drilled wholes on the louvers. Grab the washers and nuts, and put the washer on the stud, and then screw it all together with the nut.
Lambo Style Window Louvers step 5
Step 5 is to take the plastic off the 3M adhesives and rub them with adhesion promoter. DO NOT uncover the adhesive in the middle on the bottom of the louver. Anything that is stuck directly to the louver and the windshield will prevent you from being able to take it off and from installing correctly. Once you have the backing off the adhesives that are only attached to the brackets and have used adhesion promoter, you can move on to the next step.
Lambo Style Window Louvers step 6
Step 6 is to put the louvers on the back windshield. You’ll want someone to help you with this. Each of you grab one side and line up the top of the louvers with the top of the windshield. Be very careful putting it down, as the adhesion should stick as soon as it touches and you may not be able to readjust. Carefully place the rest of the louver down and then push down on all the areas with adhesives.
Lambo Style Window Louvers step 7
Step 7 is to take the louvers back off and press down on the mounts. Unscrew and take off all the nuts and washers and the louvers should slide off. Then go around and put pressure on all the mounts making sure they have stuck on well.
step 8
Step 8 is to seal up the edges of the mounts. Get out the Silicone sealant. Go around the edges of the mounts and seal them up so that no air or water can get in them.
step 8.5
If you want to, you can then go around them with an alcohol prep wipe and clean up any smudges caused by the sealant. Do not touch the silicone sealant that is on the mounting brackets. Next, wait 24 Hours.
step 9
Step 9 after waiting 24 hours is to finally put the louvers back on. Make sure you have the rubber spacers on first before putting on the louvers. once the louvers are on, put the washers on again and screw them on with the nuts. At last, you are done installing the Lambo Style Louvers on your S550 Mustang.

Resonator Delete H-Pipe On 2015 Mustang V6 With Gibson Mufflers

If your looking to make your Mustang louder, a resonator delete H-pipe will do just that. Back when I bought my last Mustang, a 2015 Guard Metallic V6, it had a Gibson Performance Cat-Back Exhaust on it already. For a while I just left it like that, but really wanted to make is sound like a V8. The more I looked into it the more I realized that there was no way to do that. However, I could take of the resonator and replace it with an H-pipe for a cool deep, raspy sound.

A Resonator delete is a great way to make you mustang louder. I had a full Gibson Cat-Back on there to start so if you have a stock resonator your thinking about taking off it will be even more of a difference than this is. I don’t know how the drone is with other mufflers, but with the Gibson, it’s really only a bother on long highway trips.

You Won’t Regret Getting a Resonator Delete H-Pipe

Getting a resonator delete should take about an hour to an hour and a half. The cheapest and fastest way is to just do a straight though midpipe, but I would recommend going with an X-pipe or an H-pipe. This will improve the sound you get and give you better performance gains. If drone is a concern, I would recommend choosing an H-pipe rather the an X-pipe. You may still get some depending on the mufflers you have, but X-pipes are know to be worse the H-pipes when it comes to drone. To learn more about X-pipes vs H-pipes, click here. I have an X-pipe on my current Mustang GT and don’t get any drone. Click Here to check out the Borla ATAK Exhaust I have.

When you go to an exhaust shop to get a resonator delete H-pipe you can either have them make a midpipe for you, or you can bring one you would like to use. If you have them make one for you, you’ll have to pay them a bit more, but it should be cheaper than buying one. If you would rather play it safe, you can buy a midpipe for them to put on. I had them make an H-pipe for my V6 and it turned out great though.

Raxiom Plug and Play Tail Light Sequencers Install

One of the most iconic things about Ford Mustangs is their tail lights although surprisingly, they don’t come from the factory as cool as they could be. Stock, they don’t turn on sequentially like you might expect them to. This is why the Raxiom Plug and Play Tail Light Sequencers are a great mod that every Mustang owner should install. They are cheap, easy to install, and make you Mustangs tail lights meet their full potential.

As amazing as it is, the Mustang’s tail lights will only flash on when you hit the breaks, turn on the hazards, or lock the doors. The turn signal might be sequential, but that’s it. The Raxiom Plug and Play Tail Light Sequencers are made for this very reason. They are one of those mods that just make sense. Once Plugged in, you tail lights will turn on sequentially all the time. While a subtle change, they add a little more of a high end look to your Mustang.

Raxiom Plug and Play Tail Light Sequencers Installation

Installing the Raxiom Tail light Sequencers is a very easy task.

Raxiom Plug and Play Tail Light Sequencers
First unscrew and take off the panel on the back of the trunk.
2
Then unplug the tail lights and plug in the sequencers in between as if plunging in an extension cord. Do this for both sides.
3
Once both sides have been plugged in, put the panel from before back in and screw it on. That’s all there is too it!
4
Do not get the Raxiom Tail light Sequencers if you have a sub like this in the back. Not matter how many times I try, I can’t find a way to get them to fit on this side. I tried taking it out but it is still blocked.

K&N Cabin Air Filter

K&N Cabin Air Filter

With everyone always worrying about being careful and not getting corona, what better time to upgrade your cabin air filter to a K&N? While purchasing a Cabin Air Filter will not give you any performance gains, it will improve the air quality inside your Mustang. This will do a better job of filtering out unwanted partials and smells, keeping your car nice and fresh inside. It can even improve the efficiency of you heating and cooling.

Just like other K&N Products, the cabin air filter comes ready to be installed. Once it gets dirty, it can easily be cleaned and reused. This can save you tons of money in the long run. Click here to see K&N Cabin Air Filter. I am ordering one for my own Mustang and will be adding more once I have installed it.

Closed Vs Open Cold Air Intake

The first Engine Mod most people do it put in a cold air intake. There are a lot of options out there to chose from, so lets narrow it down a little bit. Which is better, a closed box CAI or an open one? despite how many open ones there are out there, its going to be better to install a closed box cold air intake.

Open cold air intakes aren’t going to using the coldest air they could be. Not being blocked off from the rest of the engine means all that warm air is going to get in instead of the colder air outside the car like you want. By sucking in that warm air, your car won’t be getting the power gains that you want. That’s the whole point of getting a cold air intake in the first place, not to just wast a couple hundred dollars on a mod that isn’t going to make any difference.

Closed box cold air intakes block out all of that warm air in the engine and only use the colder air like they are supposed to. This leads to your car getting the power gains that you are looking for. Closed box cold air intakes are a much better deal then open. There are many options to choose from. Some are even see through on the top so you still get that cool look of the cold air intake anytime you open the hood. When looking for a cold air intake, your going to be way better off choosing one with a closed box rather then an being open.

X-Pipes Vs H-Pipes

A common decision when it comes to upgrading any exhaust system whether to go with an X-pipe or an H-pipe. For those who may not know, these are different styles of mid-pipes that go between the catalytic converter and the mufflers. When deciding which to put on your car, its important to know what you want out of the new setup.

On the left is an X-pipe and on the right is an H-pipe.
On the left is an X-pipe and on the right is an H-pipe

X-pipes will give you more power and more volume than an H-pipe will. The power difference is hardly anything to brag about, but they do make a little more due to how the exhaust flows. The main difference is the sound. X-pipes are better for anyone who wants to be as loud as can be and prefer a higher pitched sports car sound to a deeper one. If your really want a high pitched sound, you may want to look into the Corsa Double Helixx X-Pipe. This stainless steel mid-pipe features a double X-pipe making for a really loud, high pitched sound.

Seeing as there really isn’t much of a power difference, many people prefer H-pipes for their deep throaty sound. An H-pipe will give your car more of that classic muscle car sound. If you would rather have a deep rumble than high pitched scream, an H-pipe might be the better choice for you. Now when I say H-pipes aren’t as loud as X-pipes, I don’t mean they’re quiet. H-pipes can still be really loud, just not as loud. If your replacing a resonated mid-pipe with a resonator delete mid-pipe it doesn’t matter which you go with, it is going to be significantly louder.

It all comes down to personal preference and which sound you would rather get. If you want the louder, higher pitched race car sound, the X-pipe might be better for you. If you want an old school muscle car sound, you’ll probably prefer the H-pipe. Either one you decide to go with, you car is going to sound good, and you’ll love hearing it ever time you hit the gas.

2015 Mustang V6 Gibson Performance Cat-Back Exhaust

The Gibson Performance Cat-Back Exhaust is a great exhaust system for any Mustang V6 owner looking to get a little more power and sound out of their car. This exhaust system makes V6’s sound surprisingly deep. While it won’t make is sound like a V8, it has a great, unique sound.

It has a resonated X-pipe to reduce drone and is relatively quiet when cruising. There is a tiny bit of drone but it isn’t enough to be bothersome. While it is never ridiculously loud, it has a smooth sports car sound when accelerating, with plenty of volume to turn a few heads. It has giant exhaust tips that look awesome. It also comes in matte black, a great look for any mustang, but especially a dark colored one.

I had this Exhaust system on my 2015 Mustang V6 and it sounded great, but of course I thought I could make it even louder. I eventually took off the resonator that it came with and replaced it with a resonator delete H-pipe. that setup sounded awesome, but had a bit of drone. While is sounded great driving around town, it would kill me when I had to drive on the highway.

My point is, if you want an exhaust system that sounds good but isn’t too loud, the Gibson Performance Cat-Back Exhaust is a great option. If you want to make your Mustang as loud as it can possibly be, you may be better off going another route. The Gibson Performance Cat-Back Exhaust is made in the USA though! It is a great choice for anyone who wants a unique sound for their Mustang V6.

Loose Exhaust on 2015 Mustang GT

Driving around worrying that at any moment your exhaust might start scraping on the ground or fall off isn’t what anyone expects after getting a new car. When I bought my 2015 Mustang GT, It already had some great Borla ATAK exhaust on in. The previous owner had installed it themselves. Not long after I got it, something caught my eye. It almost looked like the exhaust was a bit lower on one side then it was on the other. I wasn’t sure if it was that big of a deal, but when I took a closer look, there was definitely something wrong with it. I decided to measure it and sure enough the it was about 3 inches lower on the driver side then on the passenger side.

Show the uneven exhaust pipes

I ended up taking it to an exhaust shop to find out what the problem was. Turns out the driver side exhaust pipe was a little loose, and had been slipping down over time. It was a quick and easy fix, but could have been avoided in the first place. If you take your Mustang to an exhaust shop to be installed, you shouldn’t have to worry about this happening. They have equipment needed to tighten your exhaust on way better then anyone could by hand. However, If you install an exhaust system on your Mustang yourself, be sure to tighten it as much as you can. If at some point is looks like your exhaust is getting lower like this, it just means you need to readjust and tighten it.
