Resonator Delete H-Pipe On 2015 Mustang V6 With Gibson Mufflers

If your looking to make your Mustang louder, a resonator delete H-pipe will do just that. Back when I bought my last Mustang, a 2015 Guard Metallic V6, it had a Gibson Performance Cat-Back Exhaust on it already. For a while I just left it like that, but really wanted to make is sound like a V8. The more I looked into it the more I realized that there was no way to do that. However, I could take of the resonator and replace it with an H-pipe for a cool deep, raspy sound.

A Resonator delete is a great way to make you mustang louder. I had a full Gibson Cat-Back on there to start so if you have a stock resonator your thinking about taking off it will be even more of a difference than this is. I don’t know how the drone is with other mufflers, but with the Gibson, it’s really only a bother on long highway trips.

You Won’t Regret Getting a Resonator Delete H-Pipe

Getting a resonator delete should take about an hour to an hour and a half. The cheapest and fastest way is to just do a straight though midpipe, but I would recommend going with an X-pipe or an H-pipe. This will improve the sound you get and give you better performance gains. If drone is a concern, I would recommend choosing an H-pipe rather the an X-pipe. You may still get some depending on the mufflers you have, but X-pipes are know to be worse the H-pipes when it comes to drone. To learn more about X-pipes vs H-pipes, click here. I have an X-pipe on my current Mustang GT and don’t get any drone. Click Here to check out the Borla ATAK Exhaust I have.

When you go to an exhaust shop to get a resonator delete H-pipe you can either have them make a midpipe for you, or you can bring one you would like to use. If you have them make one for you, you’ll have to pay them a bit more, but it should be cheaper than buying one. If you would rather play it safe, you can buy a midpipe for them to put on. I had them make an H-pipe for my V6 and it turned out great though.

Closed Vs Open Cold Air Intake

The first Engine Mod most people do it put in a cold air intake. There are a lot of options out there to chose from, so lets narrow it down a little bit. Which is better, a closed box CAI or an open one? despite how many open ones there are out there, its going to be better to install a closed box cold air intake.

Open cold air intakes aren’t going to using the coldest air they could be. Not being blocked off from the rest of the engine means all that warm air is going to get in instead of the colder air outside the car like you want. By sucking in that warm air, your car won’t be getting the power gains that you want. That’s the whole point of getting a cold air intake in the first place, not to just wast a couple hundred dollars on a mod that isn’t going to make any difference.

Closed box cold air intakes block out all of that warm air in the engine and only use the colder air like they are supposed to. This leads to your car getting the power gains that you are looking for. Closed box cold air intakes are a much better deal then open. There are many options to choose from. Some are even see through on the top so you still get that cool look of the cold air intake anytime you open the hood. When looking for a cold air intake, your going to be way better off choosing one with a closed box rather then an being open.

X-Pipes Vs H-Pipes

A common decision when it comes to upgrading any exhaust system whether to go with an X-pipe or an H-pipe. For those who may not know, these are different styles of mid-pipes that go between the catalytic converter and the mufflers. When deciding which to put on your car, its important to know what you want out of the new setup.

On the left is an X-pipe and on the right is an H-pipe.
On the left is an X-pipe and on the right is an H-pipe

X-pipes will give you more power and more volume than an H-pipe will. The power difference is hardly anything to brag about, but they do make a little more due to how the exhaust flows. The main difference is the sound. X-pipes are better for anyone who wants to be as loud as can be and prefer a higher pitched sports car sound to a deeper one. If your really want a high pitched sound, you may want to look into the Corsa Double Helixx X-Pipe. This stainless steel mid-pipe features a double X-pipe making for a really loud, high pitched sound.

Seeing as there really isn’t much of a power difference, many people prefer H-pipes for their deep throaty sound. An H-pipe will give your car more of that classic muscle car sound. If you would rather have a deep rumble than high pitched scream, an H-pipe might be the better choice for you. Now when I say H-pipes aren’t as loud as X-pipes, I don’t mean they’re quiet. H-pipes can still be really loud, just not as loud. If your replacing a resonated mid-pipe with a resonator delete mid-pipe it doesn’t matter which you go with, it is going to be significantly louder.

It all comes down to personal preference and which sound you would rather get. If you want the louder, higher pitched race car sound, the X-pipe might be better for you. If you want an old school muscle car sound, you’ll probably prefer the H-pipe. Either one you decide to go with, you car is going to sound good, and you’ll love hearing it ever time you hit the gas.

2015 Mustang V6 Gibson Performance Cat-Back Exhaust

The Gibson Performance Cat-Back Exhaust is a great exhaust system for any Mustang V6 owner looking to get a little more power and sound out of their car. This exhaust system makes V6’s sound surprisingly deep. While it won’t make is sound like a V8, it has a great, unique sound.

It has a resonated X-pipe to reduce drone and is relatively quiet when cruising. There is a tiny bit of drone but it isn’t enough to be bothersome. While it is never ridiculously loud, it has a smooth sports car sound when accelerating, with plenty of volume to turn a few heads. It has giant exhaust tips that look awesome. It also comes in matte black, a great look for any mustang, but especially a dark colored one.

I had this Exhaust system on my 2015 Mustang V6 and it sounded great, but of course I thought I could make it even louder. I eventually took off the resonator that it came with and replaced it with a resonator delete H-pipe. that setup sounded awesome, but had a bit of drone. While is sounded great driving around town, it would kill me when I had to drive on the highway.

My point is, if you want an exhaust system that sounds good but isn’t too loud, the Gibson Performance Cat-Back Exhaust is a great option. If you want to make your Mustang as loud as it can possibly be, you may be better off going another route. The Gibson Performance Cat-Back Exhaust is made in the USA though! It is a great choice for anyone who wants a unique sound for their Mustang V6.

Loose Exhaust on 2015 Mustang GT

Driving around worrying that at any moment your exhaust might start scraping on the ground or fall off isn’t what anyone expects after getting a new car. When I bought my 2015 Mustang GT, It already had some great Borla ATAK exhaust on in. The previous owner had installed it themselves. Not long after I got it, something caught my eye. It almost looked like the exhaust was a bit lower on one side then it was on the other. I wasn’t sure if it was that big of a deal, but when I took a closer look, there was definitely something wrong with it. I decided to measure it and sure enough the it was about 3 inches lower on the driver side then on the passenger side.

Show the uneven exhaust pipes

I ended up taking it to an exhaust shop to find out what the problem was. Turns out the driver side exhaust pipe was a little loose, and had been slipping down over time. It was a quick and easy fix, but could have been avoided in the first place. If you take your Mustang to an exhaust shop to be installed, you shouldn’t have to worry about this happening. They have equipment needed to tighten your exhaust on way better then anyone could by hand. However, If you install an exhaust system on your Mustang yourself, be sure to tighten it as much as you can. If at some point is looks like your exhaust is getting lower like this, it just means you need to readjust and tighten it.

Borla ATAK Cat-Back Exhaust on 2015 Mustang GT

The Borla ATAK is a one of the best cat-back exhaust systems on the market for the Mustang GT. It sounds incredible, with a faint rumble at low rpms, yet a loud yet defined scream when you hit the gas. It is almost silent on the highway and doesn’t have any drone. All you might hear is a quiet rumble, until you decide to pass the car in front of you. It is insanely loud on cold starts, but turns to a more reasonable sounding rumble after warming up.The Borla ATAK Cat-Back is made of stainless steel, which is considered the best material to use for any exhaust system. It has an X-pipe, giving you a louder sound then an H-pipe. This also means you get a little more horsepower too, but not much. To learn more about X-pipes vs H-pipes, click here.

I have the Borla ATAK cat-back exhaust system on my 2015 mustang gt and love it. Anytime I need to be quiet, such as driving through the neighborhood, I can sneak in without disturbing any of my neighbors. Anytime I want to hear it, all I have to do is tap the gas. You can’t go wrong with it. If your interested in getting it for your 2015-2017 Mustang Gt, click here for stainless steel tipped, and click here for black tipped.
