Loose Exhaust on 2015 Mustang GT

Loose Exhaust on 2015 Mustang GT

Driving around worrying that at any moment your exhaust might start scraping on the ground or fall off isn’t what anyone expects after getting a new car. When I bought my 2015 Mustang GT, It already had some great Borla ATAK exhaust on in. The previous owner had installed it themselves. Not long after I got it, something caught my eye. It almost looked like the exhaust was a bit lower on one side then it was on the other. I wasn’t sure if it was that big of a deal, but when I took a closer look, there was definitely something wrong with it. I decided to measure it and sure enough the it was about 3 inches lower on the driver side then on the passenger side.

I ended up taking it to an exhaust shop to find out what the problem was. Turns out the driver side exhaust pipe was a little loose, and had been slipping down over time. It was a quick and easy fix, but could have been avoided in the first place. If you take your Mustang to an exhaust shop to be installed, you shouldn’t have to worry about this happening. They have equipment needed to tighten your exhaust on way better then anyone could by hand. However, If you install an exhaust system on your Mustang yourself, be sure to tighten it as much as you can. If at some point is looks like your exhaust is getting lower like this, it just means you need to readjust and tighten it.
