Closed Vs Open Cold Air Intake

The first Engine Mod most people do it put in a cold air intake. There are a lot of options out there to chose from, so lets narrow it down a little bit. Which is better, a closed box CAI or an open one? despite how many open ones there are out there, its going to be better to install a closed box cold air intake.

Open cold air intakes aren’t going to using the coldest air they could be. Not being blocked off from the rest of the engine means all that warm air is going to get in instead of the colder air outside the car like you want. By sucking in that warm air, your car won’t be getting the power gains that you want. That’s the whole point of getting a cold air intake in the first place, not to just wast a couple hundred dollars on a mod that isn’t going to make any difference.

Closed box cold air intakes block out all of that warm air in the engine and only use the colder air like they are supposed to. This leads to your car getting the power gains that you are looking for. Closed box cold air intakes are a much better deal then open. There are many options to choose from. Some are even see through on the top so you still get that cool look of the cold air intake anytime you open the hood. When looking for a cold air intake, your going to be way better off choosing one with a closed box rather then an being open.
